I fly Seagull Model Extra 300E (43" w/ 11x4.7E APC) and Extream Flight Yak54E (47" w/ 12x6E APC), and Mac Hodges (hodgeshobbies.com) battery (Jack Power 2200mAh) perform greater or equal to Air Thunder, Thunder Power, Dualsky's... at a lower cost 3 cell = $600, and 4 cells = 80$. Pick it up the next time one of you go to SEEF 2009. Temp of LiPo batt is below 105 degrees after hard flying. Motor - Rimfire 3536 1200KV, ESC- HiModel 45A are used on both planes.

Hi BuckshotRC,

WARNING: I would not buy any LiPo larger then 1300 mAh 3 cells from United Hobbies (A.K.A. Hobby City), who sell ZIPPY LiPo. Last week I burn 4 of the 4 cells and 4 of the 3 cells packs purchased from United Hobbies. Here are the reasons:
* Poor Cells Balancing
* Capacity of each pack diminished quickly when discharged (flight time approximately 2 mins)
* Cannot run down the LiPo below 3 volts on each cell

The above reasons cost me two electric planes. The only positive things about those LiPo pack was that I took the opportunity to teach my son how to use fire-extinguishers. It is part of our family fire drills.

I am not trying to sell/promote Mac Hodges product, just wanted to share my experience. I’m simply very happy with his battery. I spent lots of money for the lessons I learn. I ran the Jack Power (25C/50C) down to 2.7 thru 2.9 volts on each cell with out any problem. I used balancer and non-balancer chagers, and each cells is within 0.02V of each other. It is smaller and lighter then most LiPo packs at the same capacity rating, except the Thunder power which is the same in size and weight to Jack Power.

I’ll be more then happy to let you try the 3 cells and 4 cells once I am down their.

Cheers...

Yes sir, I am planning to attend SEEF. My house in GA is 40 min drive to Mac, through the back road. I will begin work at Eglin on Mar 31st. I will attempt to return to GA every two weeks, until the kids are out of school. We will permanently move to FL around mid June. While in FL working, I’ll have my electric plane with me. You can try my LiPo out for comparison.

We have bad weather today and I wished I could fly. I’ll head to the golf course instead.

Cheers,

I have tried several different batteries and my favorite is the Align 3s 2100 22C batteries. They are light, smaller than most and I can usually pump about 1800 or so MAH back into the batteries while only taking the voltage down to about 3.75 per cell. Gene
