club early history

Hi guys shure is nice to see the club is going so well. I contacted your club pres the other day and sent him one of the original coat patches for the club when it first started and was then the GUIDED MITES.
I was only 14 when we lived in Ft Walton Beach and would go out to watch them fly the rc planes at one of the aux fields and got the bug to fly and approached the pawn shop that was then next to the old down town theatre if they would sponser a model plane club as they sold some model supplies and approached some of the modelers at the field about starting a club. I guess me being a young whipper snapper then they were kind of the feeling that I and a club wouldn't help them any but did get a couple of them interested in the idea. After the first couple of meetings my dad got transfered to Cape Canaveral as the Boing Bomark project ended on the island And he went on to the Gemini then to the Apallo projects.
That is kind of how the club got started in 1960 / 1961 by some kid with big ideas and high hopes. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU Jack
